    The American Academy of Dermatology is seeking a Specialist, Community Outreach located in our Rosemont, IL office responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of key community outreach initiatives that are priorities for the Academy.  Provide oversight, implementation and evaluation for community outreach activities to maximize impact with existing resources. Monitor program budgets and timelines.   Work with Academy member volunteers, other departments within the Academy, and outside partners. Engage members with programs and recruit doctors for special event screenings.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work with Senior Manager to plan, implement and measure activities for community outreach programs such as Good Skin Knowledge, Latino Outreach and SPOTme® skin cancer screenings. This includes but is not limited to developing timelines, leading planning conference calls, assisting with trainings for pilot programs, tracking budgets, measuring impact and outcome data, etc.
    • Analyze outcome data to make recommendations for program improvements and develop final reports for each program either project based or annual reports.
    • Work with outside vendors to secure specialized reports and year-end statistical summary for ongoing SPOTme® skin cancer screening program. Use criteria to make decisions regarding fulfillment of giveaways (UV bracelets, sunscreen etc.)
    • Coordinate the volunteer recognition for programs which may include award certificates, thank you letters or recognition in Aspire Magazine.
    • Responsible for the annual revisions to and printing of the annual outreach materials for various programs, working with other Academy departments. Track and monitor the inventory of all materials and work with Creative and Publishing on the development of all materials.
    • Responsible for maintaining various program content on the website.

    Requirements:

    ·         Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience.

    ·         Two years of experience working in a non-profit community outreach environment or program management experience required.

    • Ability to apply effective verbal, nonverbal, and written communication methods to achieve desired results.
    • Program management experience a must, including ability to handle multiple projects with fluid timelines and changing components. Excellent project management skills and a goal-driven mind-set are necessary, including the ability to organize, prioritize, coordinate tasks and be detailed oriented.
    • Monitor the progress of tasks and projects and provide evaluation and feedback to supervisor.  Ability to think strategically and execute projects under minimal supervision required.
    • Experience working with a wide range of internal and external audiences required.
    • Possess and apply fundamental communication management principles, practices, and procedures required.
    • Ability to identify and define problems, examine relevant information and choose the correct course of action based on standard operating procedures.  Proficiency in MS Office skills required.
