    We are now hiring for a full-time Development Specialist to join our General Office Team!


    • In conjunction with the Data Analyst, process daily gift batches in donor database, Raiser's Edge NXT, a comprehensive, integrated, relational database system.
    • Produce of gift receipts in accordance with 48-hour turnaround best practice.
    • Assist the Data Analyst in data analysis, maintaining data integrity and adding new data to the database.
    • Process in-kind gift batches in Raisers Edge NXT and produce of gift receipts in accordance with 48-hour turnaround best practice.
    • Produce necessary reports for Chief Development Officer and Executive Directors of local centers as needed.
    • Support stewardship for all donors including producing personalized thank you letters for President/CEO, Chief Development Officer, Executive Directors and all fundraisers.
    • In collaboration with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Development, support all sponsorship activities for fundraising events, including MPower the Night and Annual DuPage Gala. Tasks include:
      a.Preparing necessary documents for board sponsorship committees, like meetings agendas/notes
      b. Collaborating with team to create sponsorship documents
      c. Maintaining sponsorship tracking documents
      d. Managing event mailing lists
      e. Scheduling and managing all MPower the Night Host Committee calls
      f. Conducting follow-up activities including direct calls and/or emails
      g. Ensuring all sponsor benefits are met in conjunction with Director of Special Events
    • Produce all event correspondence as needed, including sending invoices and thank you letters.
    • Take the lead on strategic initiatives important for team culture and success as needed.
    • Support the External Affairs team as needed.
    • Represent External Affairs and MFS at community or center based events as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.
    • The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.
    • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 


    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
    • 2-4 years’ experience of related experience, preferably in non-profit development department with increasing levels of responsibility
    • Passion and commitment to the mission.
    • Ability to manage complex projects with excellent organizational skills and technical expertise
    • Ability to balance multiple requests and priorities.
    • Demonstrated skills with superior verbal, written and presentation skills and the ability to adapt communication to the appropriate audience. Strong writing skills are essential.
    • Demonstrated ability to take accountability for results, take initiative, as well as be adaptable, resilient, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
    • Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs and database management programs (Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred).
    • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
    • Ability to work some evenings and/or weekends as needed.
    • Ability to travel locally as needed to support External Affairs activities
    • Must have a valid Driver’s License, proof of insurance, and access to a vehicle to perform the essential job functions.
