Description
Please find a full, downloadable position description here: https://bit.ly/MarklundMGM. The position description provides additional details about Marklund and the Major Gifts Manager role.
Marklund has been making everyday life possible for individuals with profound disabilities since 1954, when Claire and Stan Haverkamp opened their home to care for an infant with Down syndrome. Today it's a multi-campus organization serving children and adults with developmental disabilities through residential, educational, and community day services. Marklund is hiring a Major Gifts Manager to take ownership of a portfolio with substantial untapped potential and help build out the next chapter of its major gifts program.
You'll manage a working portfolio of 100 to 150 individual donors, with a focus on gifts of $15,000 and above and the growth of the Marklund Always planned giving society. Many donors are already deeply connected to the mission and ready for deeper engagement. Because the major gifts program is still young, you'll have a real hand in shaping the systems, tools, and strategies that define it. You'll join a 9-person development team raising $6.7M annually and partner closely with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Donor Engagement. This search is being conducted by TWB Fundraising.
This role is a good fit for someone energized by relationship-building, ready to take ownership of a portfolio, and eager to learn.
What you'll do:
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts of $15,000 and above, growing the LGC Inner Circle program
- Move donors to their next level of support, including mid-level upgrades and re-engagement of lapsed major donors
- Conduct prospect research and partner with the CDO to surface major gift opportunities above $15,000
- Steward members of the Marklund Always planned giving society and integrate planned giving conversations into donor strategies
- Audit current tracking and research tools to make sure the systems can support a growing program
- Manage the Double the Donation corporate matching program
- Partner with the events directors and Annual Fund Manager to engage event attendees and appeal donors at the $1,000 and above level
What you'll bring:
- Two to five years of major gift experience
- Ability to manage external relationships with donors, prospects, board members, and other professionals
- Basic knowledge of planned giving (deeper expertise can be developed on the job)
- Proficiency with Raiser's Edge NXT
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including donor messaging, proposals, and public speaking
- Bachelor's degree
Please note that this role is hybrid and requires in-office time and meetings with donors in and near Geneva, IL.
