Are you passionate about building partnerships that connect the dots between financial resources and people in vulnerable situations? World Relief partners with many private foundations to serve immigrants and refugees in Chicagoland. Join our Development Team to build pathways for impact with our foundation partners. This position furthers the mission of World Relief by leading the foundations giving strategy in the Chicagoland region. In addition, this role works closely with the director of development, development team, executive director, and leadership team to shape and implement the annual fundraising strategy.

    • Lead the development and stewardship of a portfolio of foundations as part of a coordinated effort to raise support.
    • Research and strategically match foundations and grant opportunities with existing and future program funding needs and build deep relationships to the point of a grant award—creative thinking, persistence, and entrepreneurialism needed.
    • Cultivate and steward relationships with foundation representatives.
    • Develop and edit high-impact proposals relevant to each potential partner’s giving goals and supply detailed and specific reports in compliance with grant requirements to inform partners of how World Relief stewarded their gifts.
    • Lead the writing process for private foundation grants directed toward the Chicagoland region, including collaborating, and delegating components to other staff, as well as setting the tone for standards of excellence in writing, copyediting, and presentation.
    • Develop creative, compelling, and persuasive written content for development team members to adapt to use with other donor segments.
    • In coordination with Development Director and Program Directors, facilitate the creation of program overview collateral for use with donors and foundations.
    • Coordinate the compilation of a story bank from program areas for use in grant proposals, reports, and as sharable content for development team members to adapt to use in other donor segments.
    • Ensure timely receipt of project deliverables and required reports; prepare and submit consolidated reports to funders and other internal and external stakeholders on the progress of partnerships with funders.
    • Liaise with program staff to organize and facilitate streamlined proposal development and impact reporting processes.
    • Participate with the Executive Director, Leadership Team, and Director of Development in the development and implementation of an annual fundraising plan

    • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
    • Exceptional verbal, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills required
    • Excellent writing skills; an ability to distill complex information into clear, compelling proposals
    • Extremely self-motivated with a proactive approach to work
