     Senior Director of Development, Marketing & Communications

    Reports to: CEO

    Position Summary 

    To support King-Bruwaert mission and community impact priorities by:

    • ·         Leading all Resource Development lines of business including Annual Fund, Major Gifts, New Business, Donor Relations, and Fund Raising events while consistently maintaining superior donor relationships and increasing revenue.
    • ·         Developing and implementing Marketing and Communication plans and strategies including public relations, media relations, on-line giving, digital communications, key messaging, storytelling and brand experience.
    • ·         Supporting Admissions efforts through planning, organizing and scheduling programs, activities and support materials for prospective residents and the general public.  Lead marketing and advertising efforts using a variety of media to attract potential residents to KBH and keep the name familiar to the public.

    Responsibilities

    Drive Resources and Achieve Results

    • ·         Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with volunteers, community and business leaders, and donors to generate necessary resources
    • ·         Identify, recruit and develop new business prospects on a year-round basis
    • ·         Initiate new ways to generate revenue by building and expanding network of donors
    • ·         Identify strategies and opportunities to best engage volunteers
    • ·         Work directly with leadership to provide internal marketing messaging
    • ·         Stays apprised of competitive changes in the marketplace and in healthcare industry, particularly in our target market
    • ·         Connect staff and board to the valuable role they play by encouraging year-round donor engagement
    • ·         Follow resource development long- and short- range plans that ensure long-term sustainability

    Build Relationships and Inspire Investment

    • ·         Convey energy, meaning and the importance of King-Bruwaert’s mission and work
    • ·         Skilled at promoting ideas, able to read audiences, and persuade others to take action
    • ·         Ability to actively listening to needs, interests, passions and connect to
      donors to projects/initiatives/needs
    • ·         Recognize the power of effective stewardship and implement relationship plans for donors of all giving levels
    • ·         Engage with donors year-round, recognizing the impact of gifts, communicating progress and results, inspiring involvement and ensuring quality experience
    • ·         Collect and record relevant donor and volunteer information to forge partnerships, increase engagement and sustain relationships
    • ·         Make and maintain contact with community and organizational leaders, Chambers of Commerce and senior organizations to create awareness and connection to the K-B  community.
    • ·         Visit competing retirement communities, collect competitive advertising and stay current with any changes affecting the local marketplace

    Effective, Engaging and Innovative Communication

    • ·         Present a compelling case to catalyze interest, link donor aspirations to needs and secure support
    • ·         Distill complex information into simple, clear messages using examples, stories, and community information that are relevant and resonate with donors, volunteers, and families
    • ·         Write clearly and concisely, using multiple platforms to reach diverse audiences
    • ·         Effective public speaking and presenting
    • ·         Develop and implement a comprehensive year-round communication plan to keep supporters and partners informed and engaged
    • ·         Keep apprised of recognition awards or programs in which KB staff or resident nominations could be submitted for consideration and recognition
    • ·         Execute the development and implementation of social marketing, public and media relations, website content, communication/resource development materials and brand management
    • ·         Diligent with appropriate follow-up and follow-through
    • ·         Regularly take or assign pictures or video segments of K-B events to use in social media or on our website
    • ·         Accept or assign speaking engagements with local and regional organizations, discussing aging and healthcare topics of interest to the public.
    • ·         Maintain current community partners, as well as develop new ones, in order to   collaborate on programs or events

    Organizational Leadership

    • ·         Recognize organization-wide priorities and work cooperatively to support accomplishment with staff team and volunteer talent
    • ·         Conduct, analyze and interpret internal and external research to support planning and development of organizational resource development and marketing strategies and plans
    • ·         Progressive thinker, understanding philanthropic trends and best practices in fundraising, communication and marketing
    • ·         Review and develop annual Marketing and Development budgets in anticipation of expenses relating to marketing and advertising pieces, programs, equipment,
    • ·         Conduct annual Marketing Comparison study’s with local competitors in terms of unit pricing, entrance fees and additional charges.
    • ·         Active member of the internal committees for events including: Garden Party, Ice Cream Social, Legacy and Leaders Dinner, etc.
    • ·         Active listener, open to new ideas
    • ·         Self-directed, proactive and holds oneself accountable

    Additional Responsibilities

    Initiate or is directed by the CEO to perform additional duties or tasks to support mission

    Qualifications

    •    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with at least 4 years of progressive experience in a similar role.
    •    Knowledge of fundraising, marketing and communication
    •    Experience and knowledge of project management and coordination
    •    Ability to maintain knowledge and professional development in market research, business trends and fundraising trends that may impact needs and resources
    •    Excellent oral and written communication skills
    •    Ability to supervise volunteers and staff, work both independently and in a team environment
    •    Valid driver’s license

    Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience
