    Summary/Objective

    The part-time Development Officer assists the Corporate & Foundation team in securing funds from corporate, foundation or organizational partners to increase revenue in support of Northern Illinois Food Bank’s mission. The Development Officer will cultivate, solicit and steward partners through a moves management process and deepen partnerships for the Food Bank. The employee will support all philanthropic initiatives and programs.

    Essential Functions

    • Manage a portfolio of 50+ new and current corporate, foundation or organizational partners throughout the entire fundraising cycle.
    • Write and prepare proposals, grants, reports, and stewardship pieces.
    • Research and identify new prospects.
    • Stay abreast of Food Bank programs and strategic initiatives.
    • Track donor relationship activities in Raiser’s Edge donor database.
    • Manage the Food Bank’s meeting spaces for external guests.
    • Meet and present to groups and provide tours to encourage a variety of organizations to get involved with the Food Bank through donating or volunteering.
    • Join and participate in community organizations (chambers, networks, business groups).
    • Participate in weekend and evening events, including the Food Bank’s special events, to advance the organization’s philanthropic objectives.

    Required Education, Skills, and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
    • Minimum of one year of fundraising experience
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking
    • Proficient in MS Office products
    • Commitment to understanding and supporting Northern Illinois Food Bank’s mission

    Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience

    • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar donor database
    • Experience with grant writing

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

    This is a part-time position of approximately 24 hours a week. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.; but occasionally weekends and evenings will be required.

    Position Location

    This position is based out of our West Suburban Center (Geneva) location with remote work possible.

    Travel

    Travel within our 13-county service area is required estimated at 10-20%.

    $22,500-$25,000
